The Refined Blue Gem is an Eye craftable only by Wonder Why in the Wonder Why Filter, Refined Materials Filter, Winter Items Filter and Rain Gear Filter. It requires 5% durability of a Broken Ancient Crank and 1 Blue Gem to craft, and an Ancient Jewel Grindstone to make. Like all items from the Grindstone Tab, Refined Blue Gems cannot be prototyped and Wonder Why always needs to be near an Ancient Jewel Grindstone to craft them again.

Characters that aren't Wonder Why can give it the use of crushing it at the Terra Firma Tamper or at the Ancient Jewel Disposer.

Basic effects while equipped

While equipped at an Ancient Despair Mask or a Prosthetic Mask it will grant Wonder Why the following special effects:

• Pauses your wetness (can't go up or down).
• Your temperature can't go lower than 5° and you can't receive freezing damage from other sources (you can still get frozen in place).
• Regens 1 Endurance every 60 seconds at the cost of 20 wetness (can't regen Extra Endurance).

Enhanced effects while equipped

While equipped at a Face of Denial it will grant Wonder Why the following enhanced special effects:

• Pauses your wetness (can't go up or down).
• Your temperature can't go lower than 5° and you can't receive freezing damage from other sources (you can still get frozen in place).
• Your damage becomes electric.
• Regens 1 Endurance every 30 seconds at the cost of 20 wetness.
• Regens 1 Extra Endurance (Only when you have the base 6 Endurance filled) every 60 seconds at the cost of 20 wetness.

Usage

Drops 3 Ice to the floor, summons Blue Gem Deer's freezing magic-power AOE for 30 seconds and starts a Rain.

Tips

• Because the names of refined gems are long, the community often shortens Refined Blue Gem as "R.Blue Gem" or "Blue Eye".
• Until you get a Face of Denial it is recommended to unequip it and heat up before going into dangerous situations.
• If you accidentally break it you can replace it with a Thermal Stone during Winter or an Umbrella during Spring until you get a replacement.
• It is highly adviced to use the electric damage from the enhanced effect to fight, specially against wet mobs but this ability becomes weaker against Planar entities because multipliers don't work as effectively.
• The rain or snowing summoned by crushing a Refined Blue Gem can be used to complete Crabby Hermit's tasks without waiting for the precipitation event.

Trivia

• Even though the Refined Blue Gem doesn't freeze you and doesn't get you wet many characters hint at their quotes that it is always cold and wet.
• The Refined Blue Gem was introduced in the first release of the mod, Ver. 1.0 [ACT 1 Update] .
